Veterinarians
Dr. Jacob DeGraffenried D.V.M.
Dr. Jake joined us four years ago as our chief veterinarian surgeon. He now proudly owns Warner Vista Animal Hospital. Dr. Jake is often seen with a stack of books, researching current surgical and technical advances to better serve our patients. After graduating from Southern Utah University, he was accepted to the noted Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation in 1999, he returned home to Utah to work in a large animal practice. After 1 1/2 years in Logan, "opportunity knocked" and Dr. Jake moved to Arizona. Spare time is a rare commodity for this family man. He and wife Deana have three sons, Jacob, Ryan and Spencer. The boys love to play with Barkley, the family's Labrador Retriever. After family and church activities, Dr. Jake loves to ride horses. His fondest childhood memories are growing up on the DeGraffenried family farm in Utah.
Veterinary Technicians and Assistants
Denyce
Denyce is our Senior Veterinary Technician. She works a 40-hour week and in her spare time "pet sits" for clients in their homes. Denyce has worked in veterinary facilities for 16 years. She graduated from Pima Medical Institute and recently earned a Certificate in Bahavioral Assessment. Her extended family includes 5 dogs, 5 cats and 12 birds. Denyce's "pride and joy" is her 14-year old daughter Breanna. After "tending to her flock", Denyce likes to cook, listen to music and "scrap book". Denyce dreams of opening a boarding facility for animals one day.
Sandy
Sandy graduated from Westwood High School here in Arizona and began her career right away as a Vet Tech. She has 7 years experience and is a real asset to our hospital. Sandy loves working with animals and takes care of her own animal family of 5 cats. In her free time, Sandy is found on a hiking trail or near a fishing stream. She also dons her gardening gloves to work in the yard. Sandy is a "doting Mom" to 6-yeard old Skyler and 3-year old Alexis.
Samantha
Samantha is an active high school student who works part-time for us. She is a National Honor Student and serves as Chapter Historian for the Gilbert F.F.A. Animals are one of Samantha’s many hobbies and passions. She is always around farm animals and raises pigs on her property. In her spare time, Samantha loves to hike, hang out with friends and work on craft projects. We’re happy that Samantha joined us in June 2006.
Mayela
Mayela (pronounced Majela) has an “international” background. We love having a bilingual speaker in our hospital: Mayela was born in Costa Rica and speaks fluent Spanish. She loves salsa dancing and shopping. This busy MCC student loves to spend time with her family and care for her cat and 2 ferrets. She has worked in the animal industry for 1 ˝ years and began working here in September.
Receptionists and Business Staff
Amanda
Amanda is a sophomore at Chandler Gilbert Community College. After her morning classes, she scurries to Warner Vista where she greets our afternoon clients with a bright smile. Amanda volunteers with dog rescue and has 4 dogs of her own. They are joined by 2 cats and a parrot. She is an avid reader and music lover. Amanda plays the flute, Irish penny whistle and the organ. We’re glad this California native moved to Arizona and came to work with us.
Robin
Robin is multi-tasking in our office. She is an experienced receptionist and is learning the veterinary assistant position. She is a valuable asset to our team. Robin moved here from California where her son and daughter live. She loves cooking, especially baking, and enjoys working in her garden. Robin shares her home with Hunter and Freeway, her 2 Arizona cats.
Laurie
Laurie has been with us over a year and has brought a lot of energy to our hospital. She is very experienced with animals: She has worked as a Vet Tech and Receptionist for 9 years and has volunteered her time working with animals for 7 years. Laurie graduated from Gilbert High School and completed 2 years of study at Pima Community College. Laurie is the proud Mom of 10-month old Ryan. This busy lady has little spare time after "pet sitting" for her favorite clients.
